Acne
Acne is caused by Testosterone that is present in both males and females and increases during puberty. Testosterone encourages glands of the skin to become larger than normal, produce more oil, and thereby plugs the pores or hair follicles of the skin. It appears as inflamed pimples, “blackheads” and “whiteheads”, or even as deeper lumps called nodules. It most commonly occurs in teenagers but can affect people of all ages. Using a gentle cleanser that targets the inflammation, as well as excess oil and dirt, will help reduce the appearance of acne. It is also important to treat acne with gentle washes and creams to decrease the possibility of scarring.
